WELCOME to Covid Shutdown 2.0 Uptown Gym Member Fitness Challenge!! Starting December 13!

Whaaaaat? The government can mandate a closure of the gym but they can’t stop us from reaching our health goals! Let’s keep at it over the next 4+ weeks from home in our own way! Activities will be offered or you can choose your own - either way, stay active and record your activity to earn points to enter into a draw to win awesome prizes!

P.S We will be doing the draw for those who participated in the 'in gym' challenge tree decoration drawing soon! 

INSTRUCTIONS:

Exciting news!! We have added another draw for the ONLINE Fitness Challenge! Rules are the same as the in gym challenge in that even doing one workout gets you an entry in the draw so don't you worry if you miss a day! At the end of this provincial mandated closure every workout recorded will be entered into the draw - there will be a first, second and third! That's three chances to win something! Free gym time, swag, goodies, recognition and even better.. your own feeling of accomplishment that you stayed active over closure and the Christmas season! TO ENTER SIMPLY COMMENT BELOW the workout you did, let us know as much or as little as you like - simply commenting is an entry! Scroll allllllll the waaaaay to the bottom of this page!

There will be bonus entries for sharing on social media! Oh yeah, that's right! Double your workout entry if you share the daily motivation from this page to your social media! Each day will have a different link to share!

  • Runkeeper.
  • MyFitnessPal. (personal fave! tracks workouts and nutrition!)
  • 10K Runner.
  • Runtastic.
  • 30 Day Fitness at Home

Literally search in your app store 'fitness' and you will find all kinds of free or paid apps that will walk you through exercises you can do at home, track your workouts and even fitness gamification, where you can turn your workouts into a game. 

Some other super simple ideas;

Walk or run outside (get some cleats please! watch for the ice!)

Do your stairs a few times

You Tube at home fitness

Grab some cans if you do not have any free weights

Squats, pushups, tricep dips

Tips for sticking with it at HOME!

  1. Designate Your Workout Space. Make sure you have a designated area for exercising!!
  2. Set up a calendar/schedule with workouts for each day that you want to do.
  3. Make yourself adhere to that schedule!!

It is so great to see everyone staying active! Its so important to stay active during this time!

  • Experts say that remaining physically active during the COVID-19 outbreak is an important way to combat this disease.
  • Exercise has many benefits, including reducing your stress and boosting your immune system.
  • Physical activity doesn’t have to take the form of traditional exercise in order to be beneficial.

Get outside and move as much as possible! Get some cleats to put on your shoes to protect you from slips! 

If you have no equipment at home, consider other ways to incorporate resistance training. Use your stairs, cans of food, broom stick!

Merry Christmas! We all experienced the Christmas season a little different this year, I hope you made the best of it and found peace and joy. One thing that is very different for us is that we can’t head to the gym to work off all the turkey, fixings and treats! Darn! Any activity will be good so make sure to get outside and go for a walk, play with the kids, shovel! Just be careful on the ice please!! I highly recommend tracks that slip on your shoes, a couple places I know they can be picked up at is work wear stores, and Costco. What about following an exercise video? There are a ton of free ones if you search on you tube, or a google search. If you can’t find a free video you like many online fitness companies offer a free trial (just be sure to cancel before the trial ends! - or maybe you love it and will keep it) You will find many options; type of fitness, length of workout, with equipment or no equipment.. the list is endless. I really like Beachbody on Demand, it has absolutely every kind of workout I can imagine. If you do choose this option hit me up, I distribute programs for Beachbody.
