Covid-19 Information March 15

Hello Carstairs and valued members of Uptown Gym. My name is Jessica Schielke, I created and solely run the gym. In light of the recent announcements from Alberta Government regarding Covid-19 I am on high alert monitoring new announcements and information being released. At the time Risk is determined by assessing how likely Albertans are to be exposed to the virus. While the global risk is rising, the risk of contracting COVID-19 in Alberta is still low. The risk level will be adjusted if this changes in the coming weeks. (From https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-albertans.aspx#p22780s5 )

Please follow the Alberta Governments information;
-self isolate when you are feeling sick
-wash your hands frequently
-cover coughs and sneezes
-avoid touching your face

To ensure your safety Uptown Gym, with members help, will continue to provide a clean, disinfected space.
-cleaning regularly: including all machines, mats, equipment
-wiping down and disinfecting surfaces
-provide access to hand sanitizer
- ENCOURAGING ALL MEMBERS AND STAFF TO STAY HOME IF THEY FEEL SICK OR HAVE TRAVELLED OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY IN THE LAST 14 DAYS

“He points out that people should be exercising now more than ever. “When endorphin levels go up, it can counteract the stress response that is so damaging to the immune system,” he says. “Exercise also improves mental health. When you’re feeling down or stressed, exercise can put a smile on your face.” https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-stressand-stress-reliefof-the-gym-during-coronavirus-11583863988

.. so please stay a good distance from each other (at least 6ft) and continue to reap the benefits that exercise provides! 💪🏻 😅

If we all respect the space, sanitize all equipment used with high grade medical disinfectant as provided, and disinfect door handles and heavy traffic areas there is no reason the gym can’t remain open and be that place everyone goes for stress relief.

You guys, please look after yourselves out there. Look out for number one, and then remember the health of the community in all of your decisions. I love you 🖤 Thankyou for your continued support.
